Julien Boutros is a Lebanese Theatre director and instructor.
With a passion for storytelling and a desire to push boundaries, Julien has directed and/or written eight plays since he was 17 years old, including "The City" by Martin Crimp and his latest work, "Heart of Glass," based on plays by Tennessee Williams and Arthur Miller. He pursued an education in Theatre at the Lebanese University and then participated in a one-year internship at the French national acting school ERAC in Marseille.
One of the most rewarding aspects of his work has been the ability to make a positive impact on the lives of others. In 2011, he returned to his alma mater, SSCC Kfarhbab, and founded a drama club for 11th graders. Two years later, he joined the International College, where he taught theatre and filmmaking for almost a decade.
Throughout his career, he has taken on various roles and responsibilities, each one teaching him valuable lessons and shaping his doctrine. He has had the privilege of working with some of the most talented and dedicated individuals in the field. Together, they have tackled some of the toughest challenges and achieved remarkable successes.
He believes in the power of hard work and determination, but also the importance of flexibility and the ability to pivot when necessary. He nourishes his passion for theatre by visiting cities and exploring various theatres worldwide. He has had the opportunity to visit the Moscow Art Theatre (MXAT) four times with his students to participate in acting workshops and watch Russian plays. He has also participated in exchange programs such as the Swedish Performing Arts Biennale in 2013, the Momentum program at the Edinburgh Festivals in 2022, and a writing residency in La Chartreuse (CNES) - France in 2022. Additionally, during his stay in France, he had the opportunity to attend the Cannes Film Festival in 2012. These experiences have allowed him to connect with local artists and continue to shape his philosophy on theatre.
