Everything began that year, the day I decided to take the bus and go to the nearest theatre
and ask them about the way to apply and reserve the place to perform with my best friends
the first text I wrote:
On a Sunday night,
I am 17 years old, having troubles to sleep, I sit in front of my laptop
and go to msn, I find a friend of mine (in the same high school class) online, so I start chatting
with her and later an idea crossed my mind; I write it in the chat conversation and from one
idea to the other I didn’t realise in that moment that I am going to write my first play.
My friend was quiet and reading till the end. When I finished, she tells me how interesting
it is and that I should develop it. I took her advice and copy/paste the text into a word file
and start reading it again and again until I began the development of the dialogues.
Within one week, I forgot that I was a high school student; I was concentrating on my text
until I managed by the end of the next week to have my first draft ready.
On that day,
I felt a happiness and self-satisfaction that I had never experienced before for having written
a play out of ideas and questions that were very important to me at this age.

"Bayn el aswad el fetih wel aswad el ghame'" tells the story of three characters
Cynthia who lost her best friend Omar; she can't accept it and this pushes her to
suicide. Rosy who is drowned in her shallowness. And Tarek who is trying to
preserve his family’s political legacy and he ends up being murdered.
